All community interaction on The Oniket Bulletin platform is subject to a degree of moderation, the purpose of which is to ensure that the spirit of the Bulletin’s Community Standards is upheld at all times.
As a general approach, The Oniket Bulletin relies primarily on a post-moderation model, whereby users are invited to assist in maintaining the quality of community interaction. Given the volume of content generated, the Bulletin is unable to guarantee that all comments published on the site will in every instance be fully consistent with its Community Standards. Accordingly, users are requested to report any abusive, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate comments by utilising the ‘Report Abuse’ function available adjacent to each comment. Such reports assist the editorial team in identifying areas of concern and enable the Bulletin to improve the quality of the discussion environment for all participants.
Users who seriously, persistently, or wilfully disregard the Bulletin’s Community Standards, Participation Guidelines, or Terms and Conditions will have their posting privileges withdrawn. Such action is not taken lightly or arbitrarily; it is exercised in pursuit of the Bulletin’s commitment to maintaining an online environment conducive to civilised, evidence-based debate. The Bulletin reserves the right to take such decisions as it considers appropriate in furtherance of that objective.
Moderators may, where necessary, contact users by email in connection with their conduct on the platform, particularly where a concern arises in relation to the Community Standards. Users are expected to comply with any guidance or requests issued by moderators, who are responsible for enforcing the Community Standards and fostering a constructive environment for all contributors.
Where a contribution is determined to be in breach of the Community Standards set out above, it will be removed by the editorial team in the interests of maintaining an appropriate environment for the majority of users. The Bulletin will not edit user posts in a manner that alters the meaning, spelling, or other substantive content intended by the user. Where only part of a comment or post is deemed to be in breach of the Community Standards, the entirety of that comment or post may nonetheless be removed. Furthermore, where a comment is removed for any of the reasons set out above, it may be necessary to remove subsequent comments that explicitly reference or directly quote the original removed content, in order to prevent the perpetuation of the problematic material. In such cases, individual removals may not be recorded separately.
Authors and contributors have no authority to moderate comments — whether on their own articles or those of others. Where an author or contributor considers that a particular comment warrants removal, they should utilise the ‘Report Abuse’ function, whereupon the comment will be assessed by the moderation team in due course.
The Bulletin reserves the right to implement such measures as it is necessary for the benefit of the wider community of participants. As the Bulletin bears ultimate responsibility for all content published on the site, all decisions taken by its moderators are final. Owing to the volume of user-generated content, the Bulletin is unable to enter into correspondence regarding specific moderation decisions; however, all correspondence received will be read by the relevant team.
